We are living in an Easter Egg…
Happy Thursday! It’s absolutely beautiful here in Vermont! My seeds have sprouted and my cilantro is taking over the window box. With all the excitement of my seeds sprouting, I have since planted more seeds and I am anxiously awaiting for them to pop through the dirt. However, the window boxes were sold out! That didn’t stop me. I used yogurt cups to start some new seeds (pop some holes in the bottom so they can properly drain). Also, I used a cardboard egg carton to start some other seeds and that’s been great because it didn’t cost me a cent!
Rick and I spent the weekend making over our condo. It all started on Friday night:
We, more like I, wanted to lighten up our living room and open up some space with the illusion of lighter paint. Rick and I picked out Tea Cookie Behr paint and spent hours moving furniture, taping walls and rolling paint. I think we finally went to bed at 1:30 a.m. Saturday night, we continued to paint. We finished our living room and it feels like we gained 2-3 feet of space. I totally opened it up and the light is just reflecting off the walls…I LOVE IT! Disclaimer: These digital photos don’t truly represent the color of yellow that it is.

Seriously though, our cream colored drapes need to go.
They are so BLAH on the wall now. I am opened to ideas. In fact, please help! I need some suggestions! We have some red, golden yellow, moss green accents in the room, leather couches, black tables, etc. HELP! I seriously have no clue what would look right.

Ok, so we went to Home Depot to pick out some paint for our kitchen. I wanted a green. I was showing Rick a few swatches. Long story short, we picked Rejuvenate. We both loved it. It wasn’t too lime and wasn’t too dark…it looked perfect! Well, it’s obvious: we’re living inside a pastel colored easter egg.
Gosh, the kitchen alone feels like we’re swimming inside a tub of Ben and Jerry’s Pistachio Pistachio ice cream. I think we both are huge fans of it, the ice cream, that is, but seriously…we’re done painting! I will look on the bright side and say Rick is such a perfectionist and the paint job is perfect. AND it’s not forever. (I can live with this for two more years.) And, it’s lighter and cheerful, which is what i was going for.
So the paint is so so. The genius (Rick) installed a new ceiling fan in our living room and these two pendant lights over our bar. They bring much added light, as if our under-the-counter lights were not enough. They weren’t. So, in short…our paint isn’t the best color, but we love our lights. I think the fish likes the lights, he seems much happier now. (Wait, that could be because we bought him different Betta Fish Food. He didn’t eat for over 2 weeks.) It’s been a long week of upgrading our place. We hope this increases the resale value. Who are we kidding, the way the market is now, I wonder why we’re investing in lights, paint and a fan!

I love all the changes you’ve made. As for decorating I’m at a loss myself. I’ve got a red wall in my family room and that’s about all. Maybe it’s time to put up some more pictures. We’ll have to see.

Morgan..seeds need light. if you have a few hours of sunlight in a day, that’s enough. Just put your seeds in the window sill. (in some dirt, of course.)
Jennifer: know any interior decorators?

Looks fabulous!!
I would do a stripe or retro print drape to add some color.

Hi Vanessa,
You have great taste! We’re thinking of painting a very dark northern exposure living room in Behr’s Tea Cookie. Would you please tell us if you still like it? Or does it look too yellow? And if you had to redo the kitchen, what other color complementary to Tea Cookie would you choose now? And what did you end up doing for the curtains? Thanks for the wonderful photos!
