Kayaking Lake Champlain

Ben and Annie, our awesome friends who live down the street from us, invited us to join them for some kayaking.

Seriously, it’s been pouring rain here the month of June, so anytime it’s sunny, you have to take advantage of it RIGHT AWAY!

Ben and Rick were the first out on the water.  Lake Champlain is so beautiful.

Then the women had a turn!  Can you believe Annie gave birth less than 2 weeks ago!?

She really knows how to push it to the limit!

This is pretty much what happened when Rick and I hit the water! Typical!

how things turned out

While we were out on the water, Rick said, “Wow, Burlington is really a very pretty town,”  as we could see churches poke their white steeples skywards, through the blankets of green trees.

It’s so charming here. I will be sad to leave. Sort of.

Not really.

(You can only handle -18 degree temps in the winter for so long before you go into a depression.)

From the lake, Burlington looks so beautiful and incredible.

Ben and Annie, thanks for the great time!  You guys are a blast.

So, I took my cutting sheers to my head last week.  Like, not only one day, but 4 days in a row.

I kept cutting.

And cutting.

And cutting.

Rick would come home and see a pile of cut hair in the bathroom trash.  “Babe, seriously, you cut MORE today?!”

“Dood, FREE HAIRCUT!”

It’s a crap shoot to get your hair done in Vermont. They charge you to blow dry your hair.

So, you can’t really avoid getting your hair dried, because there is some dry cutting that happens too.

So frustrating!  Whose idea was it to charge to blow dry your clients hair?!

I was going for an 80’s Shag. A little rocker do.

Any thoughts?

(I’ve always adored Farrah Fawcett, to say the least…what a hair inspiration she was!  No, seriously.)

WORD!

the new do

This is how it WAS:

ACK!

Can you please come cut mine! Seriously…I went to my hair girl a month ago and because I told her I didn’t need a wash she cut it all completely dry! I’ve never had that happen. EVER! I miss California and the fabulous Mosaic Salon. You can feel free to take a road trip and chop mine off. :)

I love your hair!! I’ve thought about going for a similar look. I used to be brave enough to cut my hair, but not so much anymore. I admire all you guys get to do living in Vermont. What an experience!!

I love the hair!!! I seriously have been thinking about taking the knife to mine too – I’m a little tentative, but $ in the bank is a great feeling!

I know winter is rough, but I PROMISE you WILL miss Vermont… but I would have to recommend the Pacific NW ;) for residency, it’s a total dream here!!!

So dang cute. I love seeing pictures with you in them. As for the hair I like it. You so look like Annika with that pose. Live with it for a while and them I’m sure you’ll want to do something else. Much love, hope you have a happy 4th of July!

So it was a year ago that I got my hair cut, last week I thought it was about time so I went in to get it cut. I came home and just cried. It was so bad. Will called them back and I went into another girl who tried to fix it. It still is bad. I miss my sister who did my hair. I think it will be another year before I get it cut again.

getting your haircut in boston is a gamble as well. the one and (only) time i got my hair done, it cost me a PRETTY penny and i couldn’t even tell she put any highlights in. i swear she did maybe 5 foils and called it good. then the cut was horrible too. i like your hair both ways. really can’t decide which is better.

you seriously ROCK! I could never cut my hair…I can’t even cut my bangs right (hence the reason I don’t have bangs anymore). Also, try paying for a haircut in NYC! I dropped $250 (oops) on my haircut last december because it was a last minute, I need a haircut asap before I go home to utah for the break and i’ll go anywhere that looks decent and I won’t ask for prices before I go! Lyle was NOT happy. Anyway, needless to say I haven’t gotten a haircut since…that means 7 MONTHS AGO! I am getting another one in August before we go to Cali, but I am researching and NOT spending more than $150 this time! Yikes…

    “Dood, FREE HAIRCUT!”

I nearly sprayed tea all over my poor laptop when I read that. Seriously. That line will be a #2 right after “What’s that crease here?!”
