I’ve been working on a little project for the past 2 weeks.
As I stood in the fabric store a few days ago, for over 2 hours, debating what fabric to buy, I thought to my self,
“Gosh, I have no idea what I am doing! Why am I even doing this? I’m not a seamstress, I am not even a quilter. It’s going to have so many flaws and ….”
I stumbled across this video and it left me in tears. (Let’s be honest, almost anything can make me cry!)
It left me feeling so hopeful, so happy.
“We each have an inherent wish, to create something that did not exist before…”
To create new life, a wonderful loaf of bread, a hand written note to a friend, new games for our children, a new piece of music, memories….
EVERYONE CAN CREATE!
And although my project is far from perfect, it will keep us warm on the couch during these long winters in Vermont.
My husband adores it and I’ve enjoyed learning a new skill and creating something I can pass on to my children:
“Mom’s first quilt!”
What’s your latest creation?
“And remember that you’re a spirit daughter [son] of the most creative Being in the Universe!!!
You’ve got to take a pictures of your quilt! and show.
where’s the pictures?!!!
I’m sure it’s beautiful. Still – my very favorite quilt is the first one I did, a sweet nursery quilt for all my babies, it’s far from perfect, but Owen broke it in and Nigel uses it too – I hope for it to last for all my children, God willing – we have a house FULL some day
.
I’ll take some pictures when it’s finished! I have the top ready, the backin’g ready, and my batting. I am just calling around for pricing on getting it stitched. (Heaven knows I have no room in my condo to set up a quilting frame.)
Happiness for a Miamaid. That’s my creation. Oh and brownies I made last night. I enjoy the batter more than the finished product too.
P.S. A friend in my ward is in the 44th second of the movie. Pretty funny watching it and discovering this new tidbit.
ah, thanks for sharing Kristen! You’re the best! I seriously miss you!
Ah, I am LONGING to be there and see it, and perhaps even help a tiny bit. Melissa and I did her first quilt together and it was a blast – treasured times. I MISS you!
Michelle: Man, it was a beast..the thing is huge..I don’t know what I was thinking..I just kept sewing and sewing..and it never ended! You are very much missed out here!!!
i can’t wait to see pictures of your quilt!
i’m starting a baby quilt for a friend of mine that just learned she and her husband were chosen as adoptive parents by a birth mom. i’m very excited to get started on that special quilt.
Rychelle, you are like the MASTER quilter! I saw all those quilts in your room…and they were amazing!!! HOLY FIRE… I was going to ask you for help!
